Development of System Interlocking Method and Total System using Parsed Information of IPCC

Tae-Sung Lim, Koo-Rack Park, Han-Jin Cho

Abstract

Background/Objectives: Much time and money is needed to interlock a new system with the old IPCC system or apply IPCC information to a new system. When administrator’s state information is in IPCC and administrator’s system information is in another system, there needs to be a method to connect them. The purpose of this study is to extract the only needed information from visual screen information, not correcting IPCC, and link the extracted information to another system for more efficient work.
Methods/Statistical analysis: The monitoring screen of IPCC is also an HTML web browser. Thus, it is possible to analyze and convert the HTML to DOM Object. This study tries to extract data by parsing a certain screen using JSOUP API, arrange and match the extracted data considering the criteria, interlock administrator search system based on this information, and thereby enable quick search through the interlocked information.
Findings: When searching for system administrator with the existing system, one should go through five stages. These five stages are a repetitive and unnecessary process that one has to consider whenever one searches for system administrator. 56 administrators taking charge of 114 systems performed 10,416 searches during a month, which corresponds to 57.86 hours. While trying to find a way of improving the current work process in the environment where the IPCC system could not be corrected, the author could find that it would be possible to extract screen information through JSOUP. The method is to analyze and extract monitoring screen of the IPCC system through JSOUP, and based on the analyzed information, to use the system administrator search information through mapping. It is possible to connect two different systems by correcting only one of them. Total search system can be improved in such a way that five stages are reduced to two. When the system applying the parsed information was used, 57.86 hours of search could be reduced to 8.68 monthly, and search speed could be also reduced from 20 seconds to 3 on average. This timesaving of 49.18 hours will contribute to improvement of work efficiency. Improvements/Applications: To promote user convenience and work efficiency through improvement of search speed.
