A Study of Design Automation of ICT Convergence Smart Factory - Center of Switchboard

Tae-Ho Lee, Ho-Young Hwang, Jung-Wan Hong

Abstract

Background / Objectives: The major countries with manufacturing powers are working to secure competitiveness leading the future manufacturing industry by combining manufacturing and ICT. Smart Factory, which is at the center of its efforts, is a future-oriented production paradigm that improves productivity by integrating product planning, design, production, and distribution into IT technology.
Methods / Statistical analysis: Various countries are already pursuing policies to spread smart factories, and the Korean government will also build up 10,000 smart factories by 2020. It creates a 1 trillion won manufacturing innovation resource jointly with the private sector for the small and medium-sized enterprises to strengthen the capabilities of IT, and software.
Findings: In this paper, a panel maker participated directly in the government support project and constructed a product lifecycle management (PLM) system (design field) and derived the KPI and measured the actual effect. However, there is a lack of information about the technology or architecture required for actual construction.
Improvements / Applications: In this paper, we introduce the PLM design automation part in smart factory construction and present an example of unification and standardization of symbol mark required by product standard (IEC, ANIS, KS).
