Variable Quantization Table Creation Using Genetic Algorithm for JPEG Compression and Steganography

D. Sanki, S. Biswas, P. P. Sarkar

Abstract

A steganographic method based on joint photographic expert group (JPEG) is proposed in this paper. In this method, a modified quantization table is proposed for the better image quality and it is achieved after the JPEG compression and data hiding. This JPEG compression is performed on the basis of modified quantization table. A secret image is hidden in the compressed cover image. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is implemented to modify the quantization table. Now, modified quantization table produces the better image quality in terms of Peak Signal –to-Noise Ration (PSNR) with respect to the standard quantization table. The PSNR of proposed method is compared with the standard method and an improved result is obtained by comparing with standard quantization table.
