Development of a High-Pressured Oil Injection System for Surface Roughness Reduction

Byung Hyun Moon, Jeong Tak Ryu

Abstract

In this paper, a high pressure cutting oil supply system is implemented to improve the surface roughness of SCM420 spur gear. The degree of surface roughness is closely related to the quality of the SCM 420 spur gear by the chips produced by automatic lathe processing. The implemented system can control the pressure of the cutting oil and remove the chips produced by lathe processing of the CNC machines. By varying the pressure of the cutting oil supply from 5 to 55 bars, the surface roughness of the SCM420 spur gear is measured. It is shown that the implemented system can reduce the surface roughness by 30%.
