RGB Based Image Grouping using The Method of Colour Thresholding in MATLAB

Rishabh Kumar, Jyoti Guru, Tilak Sharma, Silica Kole

Abstract

Image grouping is a method of assigning different types of images containing variety of colour schemes together so that they share a common genre like colour, shape, texture, contours etc. If all these factors could be incorporated, images exhibiting similar properties could be grouped together. Grouped images helps in easy retrieval of images from very large databases. In this review paper, we have tried to group images based on their RGB colour property using the Image Processing Toolbox in Matlab. The concepts of RGB based colour thresholding and image segmentation have been used on a sample database of about 60 images to generate our results.
