Abstract

Spam mails are unsolicited bulk email. These emails are widely used for commercial solicitation and to advertise products and services for phishing purposes or to direct recipients to malicious sites with unethical intentions. The spam emails are a menace in internet community and strong spam filtering techniques must be used to curb the incoming spam messages in our inboxes. Therefore we present a project “TackleSpam”: An advanced Spam Filtering tool using Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) for the filtration of emails in order to enhance online security. A spam filter in Python language was successfully created which opens unread email of the user, filter then checks the email whether it can be classified as spam or not, if it is spam then it is further categorized into advertisement, forgery or lottery spam emails and moved into respective folders based on the category.
