A Measuring Method of True Position under Pattern of Holes as A Datum

Abstract


Because one possible displacement of the actual hole pattern with respect to the datum reference frame, the true position of pattern holes was hard to measure quantitatively, when a pattern of holes as a datum was applied. Taken cam cover as an example, firstly, mathematical algorithm for pattern of holes translation and rotation was introduced to calculate the displacement in coordinate measuring machine software; secondly, quantitative evaluation of true position under pattern holes as a datum was compared with the conventional datum method. Seen from calculation results, the curve for pattern holes as a datum is smoother than the conventional datum curve. This method could reduce true position deviation between holes to accept all of the parts that meet the function requirement.
