Analysis of a harvested competition model with Holling II functional response

Abstract



In the present paper, we consider a two-competitor/one-prey model with Holling II functional response and harvesting of both competitors. We show that two competitors can coexist upon the single prey by mathematical analysis and numerical simulations. The harvesting effort on competitors can prevent the competitive exclusion. The possibility of existence of bionomic equilibria is considered. The optimal harvesting policy is also discussed with the
help of Pontryagin’s maximal principle.
