Sensitivity of Best-Fit Parameters in Neutral Differential Equations with Cell Growth Dynamics

Fathalla A. Rihan, Duaa H. Abdel-Rahman

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the sensitivity and robustness of neutral differential models due to small changes in the parameters occurring in the model or noisy data, when modeling dynamics of cell growth. We illustrate the methodology by using some experimental data for number of cells in a population of Tetrahymena pyriformis. The technique provides a guidance for the modelers to determine the most informative data for a specific parameter, and may select the best fit model to the observations.

Keywords

cell growth, neutral delay differential equation, parameter estimation, sensitivity analysis, time-lag.
