Determination of Lot Size in the Construction of Double Sampling Plans of The Type DSP(0,1)

R. Radhakrishnan, P. Vasanthamani

Abstract

Acceptance Sampling gives a procedure for taking a decision either to accept or reject the lot on the basis of sample information. Many authors have developed procedures in the construction of sampling plans, indexed through various parameters. All these procedures are focused on the construction of sampling plans based on the determination of sample size only but not on the lot size. It is also unconvincing to say that the lot is accepted or rejected based on a fixed sample size irrespective of the lot size. So, in this paper an attempt is made to determine the size of the lot (N) of a double Sampling Plan of the type (DSP-0,1) by fixing the sample sizes (n1,n2), lot quality (p) and Average Outgoing Quality (AOQ). Tables are also constructed for the easy selection of the plans.

Keywords

Double Sampling Plan (DSP), size of the first sample (n1), size of the second sample (n2), Lot size (N), Lot quality (p), Average Outgoing Quality (AOQ).
