Abstract

The aim of the present work is to establish a map of the protection of steppe soils in the southern region of the province of Tlemcen (North-West of Algeria). The followed methodology was based on a cartographic approach developed from a cooperation project carried out by the regional activity center for Program of Shares Priority Plan of action for the Mediterranean (PAP-MAP) and the General Office of Nature Conservation of Madrid (GONC of Madrid) with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The results obtained show that most of the lands (84.34%) are highly vulnerable, 13.66% of the areas have a medium vulnerability and only 2 % of the areas have lands with low vulnerability level.
