A New Class of Second Order Response Surface Designs

N.Ch. Bhatra Charyulu, SK. Ameen Saheb

Abstract

Box and Hunter (1957) introduced the concept of rotatability for fitting second order response surface models. These designs are termed as Second Order Rotatable Designs. These designs satisfy the property that the variance of the estimated response at any design point is a function of its distance (p from the origin. Several authors gave different methods for the construction of such designs.
In this paper, an attempt is made to define new class of second order response surface designs with the property that the variance of the estimated response at any design point is a function of distance from the design point to the origin when C ≠ 3. Also, two methods for the construction of SORSD(C) through Balanced Incomplete Block Designs and Mutually Orthogonal Latin Squares are presented.
