Evaluation and Prediction of Open Source Software Maintenance Effort through Code Quality

Abstract


Software maintenance plays an important role in software project. However, previous researches of the evaluation and prediction of software maintenance effort seldom embraced open source software. This paper presents a set of index evaluating open source software maintenance effort and proposes a method to predict it on the basis of former researches through analyzing codes of some apache open source software project. The index and method are verified by the case of Apache, which indicates validity of the index and accuracy of the method.
