Dynamic Control Strategy Analysis on Preventive Maintenance

Hongsheng Su, Yongqiang Kang

Abstract

In view of the limitations that the optimal examining items do not have dynamic and real-time performance in the traditional preventive maintenance (PM) model of repairable devices, in this paper a dynamic and real-time control strategy is proposed based on the practical state of device where the checking rates are selected as control variable to control the dynamic behavior of repairable maintenance system. The mathematical model of maintenance system is established, and some performance indexes, such as the steady-state availability, and the mean time to failure (MTTF) are calculated. And then the control laws on the checking rate are designed, and the stability of the corresponding control systems are analyzed, and a variety of different control process and the corresponding MTTF are also analyzed and given out. The essence of the strategy is to achieve the expected steady-state behavior by controlling the dynamic behavior of maintenance system, and reduce the possibility of corrective maintenance by modifying MTTF of repairable maintenance system, which will guarantee reliable completion of the desired steady-state aim and reduce PM cost. The relevant researches indicate that the strategy proposed in this paper is very effective to improve the utilization of device and provide theoretical support for the practical applications.
