Surface Image Edge Detection Algorithm based on Threshold Selection via Grey Entropy

For the problem of detecting cracks in the surface image, we successfully detect the crack edge using the grey entropy of grey system theory. By calculating the grey relational coefficients of the central pixel and each pixel in the neighborhood window, we construct grey relational entropy values to measure the edge strength of central pixel in the neighborhood window. After building the grey entropy table for the while image, we set the right step to automatically segment the edge of the surface image, and due to the situation choose the appropriate threshold to get a satisfactory segmentation effect. The final simulation results have shown that, compared with the traditional methods, the proposed method can flexibly extract the crack edge according to the different situations, and it is an effective method.
