Numerical Modelling and Parametric Analysis of Energy Consumption during Single-pass Hot Rolling

Abstract


Hot rolling is a energy-intensive process in the steel industry, and single-pass hot rolling is the basic unit of multiple-pass rolling. In this paper, all the studies are based on the principle of rolling crafts and mathematical analysis with thermal-mechanical coupling effects during hot rolling. At first, the energy consumption model, which describing the relationship between energy consumption and key rolling parameters during hot rolling process, is constructed from the mechanism of rolling and rigorous mathematical derivation; then, the dynamic simulation model is implemented in the Matlab/Simulink environment, the experimental results are consistent with results in existing papers and the field experiences; finally, several key parameters, such as roll radius, reduction ratio, rolling temperature, and rolling speed, are taken into consideration to evaluate the influence on energy consumption, comparative analysis of the sensitivity of each parameter are given finally. This work can provide a reference for precise energy analysis and optimization of energy consumption during hot rolling process.
