Abstract

Retention and productivity levels of the existing workforce are an essential concern in human resource management. Personnel in organisation turnover intension is one of the most studied topics in organisational psychology and is of interest to other professionals, including personnel researchers and managers of organizations. Employees quit their job because of poor condition of service, lack of motivational strategies and lack of job satisfaction. It is against this background that this research examines turnover intentions of library personnel in some public Universities.
Questionnaires were distributed to 233 Library Personnel librarians working in federal and state universities. A total of 226 or 97% were returned and fit for analysis. Standardised turnover intension scale with a reliability coefficient 0.86 using Chronbach Alpha method was used for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using percentages, mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient
The result reveals that there is no significant difference in the turnover intention of library personnel by their place of work (i.e. Federal and State Universities).
