Some Modified Classes of Chain-Type Estimators of Population Mean in Two Phase Sampling

A. Bandyopadhyay, G. N. Singh

Abstract

The present investigation deals with the problem of estimation of population mean in two- phase sampling. Some modified classes of chain type estimators have been proposed which make use of known range of the first auxiliary variable and known range, coefficient of skewness, coefficient of kurtosis, coefficient of variation etc. of the second auxiliary variable. The properties of the proposed classes of estimators have been discussed and they are compared with some contemporary estimators of population mean in two-phase sampling. Empirical studies are carried out to show the dominance of the proposed classes of estimators which are followed by suitable recommendations.
