Impact of Employment Generation on Poverty Reduction: A Cointegration Approach

Abstract



The purpose of this study is to investigate the usefulness of unit root and cointegration to the analysis for the impact of employment generation on poverty levels in Nigeria during the period 1999 – 2010. The study also shows that the current increasing level of unemployment means a significant increase in poverty level. It means that costs increased towards improved employment generation have been counterbalanced in reduction in poverty level.
