One Parameter Decreasing Failure Rate Distribution

Abstract



In statistical literature, many lifetime distributions for decreasing failure rate situation have been proposed but none paid attention about one parameter decreasing failure rate distribution. In this paper, we are proposing one parameter decreasing failure rate distribution with a new transformation proffering a lifetime model which is parsimonious in parameter and adds more flexibility to baseline distribution. Various statistical properties have been discussed. For the estimation purpose, we have used the method of moments and method of maximum likelihood. Finally, five real data sets have been used to show the application of proposed model over seven other decreasing failure models.
