Logarithmic Estimation Procedures for Population Mean in Two-Phase Sampling

P. Mukhopadhyay, A. Bandyopadhyay, G.N. Singh

Abstract

In this paper an attempt is taken to introduce a new estimator using logarithmic function structure. We have proposed logarithmic ratio type estimator which is consistent and in general biased. The estimator is applied in two-phase sampling situation - the features of the suggested estimator are derived and studied for its optimum condition. The ascendancy of the suggested estimator over the conventional ones has been justified through numerical illustrations carried over the data set of natural population and software generated population. Encouraged with the outcomes of the proposed estimator and strategy, it has been suggested to the survey statisticians for future use.
