On Estimation of Finite Population Variance in Two-Occasion Successive Sampling

The objective of this paper is to estimate the finite population variance in two-occasion successive sampling. Chain type exponential ratio and regression estimators have been proposed. Properties of the proposed estimators and their respective optimum replacement strategies have been discussed. The proposed estimators are compared with the natural sample variance estimator when there is no matching from the previous occasion. Theoretical results are supported with empirical studies. Results have been interpreted and suitable recommendations are made.
