Innovative Self-adaptive Composite Wind Turbine with Optimization Design

Xiaodong Chen, Guanxiong Qiu, Qiu Li

Abstract

Nowadays, small wind turbines have disadvantages in operation security and excessive noise. The current study designed a self-adaptive textile reinforced composite blade. Yarn guided and orientated punched steel plate is utilized to blend and guide different yarns in the blade accurately. The structure of the cover outside power-enhanced air-suctional stand- alone wind turbine was optimized. Based on wind tunnel testing, noise testing and 2-year field testing, the innovative impeller revealed excellent mechanical properties. Blade runaway was avoided. When the wind speed increases higher than the rated speed, the blade can twist automatically in order to adapt to the wind speed, therefore the solidity declined and the rise of output power of the motor was eliminated.
