Risk Analysis and Accident Risk Assessment for the Aviation Sector
Abstract
Every activity in our daily life involves a risk. During the day, most people may experience various risks. In order to minimize risks and their negative consequences, risk analysis is needed. Risk analysis indicates some alternatives to reduce unfavorable outcomes. Nowadays, technology is developing day by day so we need risk analysis more than ever. Risk analysis helps people to figure out the reasons for accidents or incidents and to do that, it firstly identifies threats, then estimates risks and finally finds some ways to manage them.
As in other industries, the aviation industry faces a lot of risk, too. The increasing growth and the development of the aviation sector need more security. In this paper, risk analysis and risk management steps are defined. Some of the articles related to risk analysis are also examined. Also, airplane accident data for the last ten years (2000-2011) have been used and with respect to the given data, the types of weather factors that cause accidents have been observed.
